Agenda for the Week of September 24-28, 2007

Hello Students! Please find your Agenda listed in the space below. All homework for the week so far is shown. "TBA" is an abbreviation that means "To Be Announced." If you see TBA, then you know that I will tell you what the homework is in class.

Language Arts: Periods 2 & 6
Monday: Do Support Book pages 2 and 17. Choose any 10 spelling words and use them correctly in sentences. Look up the definitions of the words if you do not know them. Use a dictionary or http://www.dictionary.com to help you.
Tuesday: Support Book page 20. Choose the other 10 spelling words (that you did NOT choose last night) and use them correctly in sentneces. Look up the definitions of the words if you do not know them.
Wednesday: Finish your Context Clues packet. Turn in your Spelling homework tomorrow.
Thursday: Write a story using 12 of your 20 spelling words correctly. TEST TOMORROW!
Friday: None.

Social Studies: Periods 3 & 7
Monday: Period 7 ONLY - Finish your Budget Vocabulary. Words: domesticate, agriculture, and slash-and-burn.
Tuesday: Finish writing and illustrating your diary for Early Man.
Wednesday: Finish Agricultural Revolution Sequence Chain. Complete and color your irrigation system map.
Thursday: Draw visuals for surplus, specialization of labor, and government on your notes.
Friday: None.

Technology: Period 5

Tuesday: None.
Wednesday: Budget Vocabulary for Computer Terms.

Expectations for Computer Usage:

1. Be on task at all times. No applications other than the one we are working in should be open.
2. Be attentive. Listen to what Mrs. Pack is saying and watch what she is doing on the LCD projector during instruction. Begin the assignment when she tells you to do so.
3. Be a hard worker. Use your time wisely and remember that work will be easier with Mrs. Pack and your fellow students to help you when you need it.
4. Be proactive. Before you ask Mrs. Pack a technical question, you must first check with two other students closest to you to see if they know the answer.
5. Be fully charged. You are responsible for making sure that your computer is charged and ready for use each day.

Things You Can Do to Ace the CST

1. Get plenty of sleep the night before each day of the test.
2. Have breakfast the day of the test. Food = Brain Power
3. Take your time on the test, and read each question carefully.
4. Look for keywords and vocabulary you know in each question and the answer choices provided.
5. Use process of elimination to get rid of the answers that are definitely wrong.
6. Highlight or underline important points (main ideas) in each selection.
7. Check your test number and bubble in the correct number carefully when you are told to do so.
8. Be careful when you bubble in your answers - don't lose track of where you want to bubble!
9. Only answer the amount of questions you are told to complete on a given day.
10. Do not talk or distract others during the test. TREAT OTHERS THE WAY YOU WANT TO BE TREATED.
11. Read each selection carefully, and read the questions before you begin reading the selection.
12. Read each poem on the test at least twice. Try to "translate" each line so you can figure out what the author is trying to say.
13. If you start to get nervous, breathe deeply a couple of times to calm down.
