Agenda for the Week of April 14-18, 2008

Hello Students! Please find your Agenda listed in the space below. All homework for the week so far is shown. "TBA" is an abbreviation that means "To Be Announced." If you see TBA, then you know that I will tell you what the homework is in class.

Language Arts: Periods 2 & 6
Monday: Finish and color your Budget Vocabulary (French and Italian words).
Tuesday: Finish and color your Budget Vocabulary (Latin and Spanish words).
Wednesday: Finish writing a paragraph using foreign words correctly (Word Splash). Two-sided worksheet on foreign words.
Thursday: TBA
Friday: None.

Social Studies: Periods 3 & 7
Monday: Period 2 - Finish your Circle Map on the word "polis." Period 6 - Finish and color your Greek Religion Picture Dictionary. Have it ready to turn in tomorrow.
Tuesday: Period 2 - Finish your Comic Life on myths, epic poems, and fables. Period 6 - Finish your Circle Map on the word "polis" and draw illustrations.
Wednesday: Finish the entries we worked on today in your Greek Government Picture Dictionary.
Thursday: TBA
Friday: None.

Expectations for Computer Usage:

1. Be on task at all times. No applications other than the one we are working in should be open.
2. Be attentive. Listen to what Mrs. Pack is saying and watch what she is doing on the LCD projector during instruction. Begin the assignment when she tells you to do so.
3. Be a hard worker. Use your time wisely and remember that work will be easier with Mrs. Pack and your fellow students to help you when you need it.
4. Be proactive. Before you ask Mrs. Pack a technical question, you must first check with two other students closest to you to see if they know the answer.
5. Be fully charged. You are responsible for making sure that your computer is charged and ready for use each day.

Things You Can Do to Ace the CST

1. Get plenty of sleep the night before each day of the test.
2. Have breakfast the day of the test. Food = Brain Power
3. Take your time on the test, and read each question carefully.
4. Look for keywords and vocabulary you know in each question and the answer choices provided.
5. Use process of elimination to get rid of the answers that are definitely wrong.
6. Highlight or underline important points (main ideas) in each selection.
7. Check your test number and bubble in the correct number carefully when you are told to do so.
8. Be careful when you bubble in your answers - don't lose track of where you want to bubble!
9. Only answer the amount of questions you are told to complete on a given day.
10. Do not talk or distract others during the test. TREAT OTHERS THE WAY YOU WANT TO BE TREATED.
11. Read each selection carefully, and read the questions before you begin reading the selection.
12. Read each poem on the test at least twice. Try to "translate" each line so you can figure out what the author is trying to say.
13. If you start to get nervous, breathe deeply a couple of times to calm down.
